Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatan mutu pendidikan dan karakter peserta didik SMP N 10 Tegal dengan mengoptimalkan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah.Penelitian ini jenis Penelitian Diskriptif kualitatif pada subyek peserta didik SMP N 10 Tegal dan obyek penelitian kegiatan ekstrakurikuler Kelompok Ilmiah Remaja (KIR). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket, dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunkan teknik deskripsi kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler Kelompok Ilmiah Remaja dapat meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dengan bertambahnya pengetahuan pesrta didik dalam bidang sain dan teknologi melalui penelitian kegiatan Kelompok Ilmiah Remaja, serta menumbuhkan pendidikan karakter peserta didik yang positif melalui interaksi social.
